What We're Up To Today
The Unit is as active as it ever was, with an astonishing membership of young people between the ages of 14 and 25, plus the many members who are stick part of the runnings such as leaders, helpers, instructors and supporters. The UK Scout Association decided in 2001 that Venture Scouting should be replaced with two new separate sections; Explorer Scouts (age 14-18) and the Scout Network (age 18-25). The Unit is running as one entity, there is no clear divide between the two sections, everyone meets up together on Thursday Nights as ever and the older members tend to run the activities.
The Unit Members' Exec is a group of members of the Explorers and Network who get together to plan the programme and other events and activities. The Exec are voted on each year and there is usually a good turnover with members moving away to go to University. The current Exec membership can be seen on the Who's Who page.
