The Explorer Scouts Section Page
Explorer Scouts is the section for boys and girls aged 14-18, it comes after the Scout section but an Explorer Scout does not need to have been a member of a Scout Troop. The Explorer Scout section was brought in in 2001 along with the Scout Network which is for 18-25 year-olds.
Explorer Scouts work through the Chief Scout's Diamond and Platinum Award and up to the Queen's Scout Award, as well as the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards, and the Explorer Belt. The activities of an Explorer Scout include camping, hiking, cycling, mountain biking, kayaking, canoeing, climbing, sailing and mountaineering, as well as various other adventurous activities, expeditions and explorations. The section also runs a Young Leader programme which provides support for the junior sections.
