This is an important message from emergency services, which I'm helping to circulate.We all carry mobile phones, but if we were on an accident and someone needed to contact a family member to let them know, how would they know who to look for in our phonebook in the list of all those names?Personally I think this is a brilliant idea and a simple concept. It is especially important for Unit members who are taking part in adventurous activities.
The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when he went to the scenes of accidents there were always mobile phones with patients but they didn't know which number to call.
He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognised name for this purpose.
In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital Staff would be able to quickly contact the right person by simply dialling the number you have stored as 'ICE'.
For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2, ICE3, etc. or ICE Mum, ICE Dad, ICE Dave, etc.
Please help spread the word so this becomes universal. Also join the Facebook group and invite all your friends.
